Grapevine Cafe has been part of the South Padre Island community since 1999, building a reputation as a welcoming place for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and great coffee. When Doug took over the cafe in 2006 after moving from Austin, he brought with him a love for creative food, quality coffee, and the relaxed energy he felt was missing on the island.
Over the years, guests have described Grapevine Cafe as "Austin at the beach," a phrase that perfectly captures what we aim to be: casual, creative, locally grounded, a little eclectic, and comfortable for everyone.
Something for Every Kind of Morning
Our menu combines American breakfast classics, Mexican-inspired dishes, Gulf Coast favorites, and lighter options so families, locals, travelers, and coffee lovers can all find something they enjoy.
Guests can choose from dishes like Huevos Rancheros, Cheesy Shrimp & Grits, Benedicts, chicken and waffles, pancakes, fajitas, salads, burgers, soups, kids' meals, vegetarian dishes, gluten-free selections, and rotating daily specials.
Coffee Is Part of Our Story
Coffee has always been more than an afterthought at Grapevine Cafe. It is part of our identity. We develop our own coffee products, work closely with an off-site roasting partner for most production, and continue to handle select roasting and product development ourselves.
From espresso drinks and French press coffee to roasted beans and green coffee, our goal is to give guests the same care and personality in their cup that they find on the plate.
